Would you bad mouth your spouse...behind his/her back?
I was attending a lengthy meeting last Wednesday at my workplace and in the last few minutes of the meeting a manager came out to present his thoughts...I am totally lost and have forgotten what he presented and on what he is driving at but one valuable lesson that I learnt from him is this "NEVER BAD MOUTH YOUR SPOUSE IN FRONT OTHERS". During the presentation, he jokingly said that his wife is a lousy driver and have scratch the rims of the tyres while driving out from the HDB MSC carpark. Trivial as it seems to be, that putting down your spouse in front the entire dept staff is something that need to be avoided and not be to be taken lightly....in the context of marriage.
I have not bad mouth spouse as long as I can remember. I love my spouse dearly...since I met her 19 years ago and more so today as I type this msg...She is everything in our little family, she is the that little heartbeat and the main pillar of strength of the family...I listen to her as she is a wise thrifty lady (somehow woman has that x factor that we guys do not have)....and like everyone else, myself included, has their own shortcomings but it is good to observe a continuous conscious effort not to bad mouth each other in front of others.
In marriage both husband and wife is one single unit, bad mouth each other in public no matter how trivial it is, is like shooting yourself in public. The very person whom you choose to marry, to love and taken as your "LIFE PARTNER", and being united as one in Holy Matrimony, should not put to bad light in front of others no matter how big or small his/her shortcomings are.
LC300, I just want to share this lesson which I learnt from this manager during the meeting.
"NEVER BAD MOUTH YOUR SPOUSE"
(P.S. This manager does not believe in the existence of God and uses "Jesus Christ" name to swear when things does not go his way...e.g. the computer hangs suddenly etc)
Let's pray for him.
You have a nice day!

Yummy Dinner Treat!
Dear All
Last Sat, 28 Mar 09, Bert treated us, our little family of food-loving gals, to dinner cos of his best performance bonus ever! We tried the transit hotel, Crown Plaza at T3...the food is 1st class!
They had a wide spread in terms of nationality like North India, Japanese, Pasta, Chinese, Western but in terms of spread within each nationality, it is limited. What was fun was they also had chocolate fondue which was the rage some years back but which we had not tried. Tiffy and I found it fun.
The buffet spread came with coffee or tea, and as I am a coffee drinker, I had a cup, and it was so strong, I couldn't sleep till almost 5am!! The next day, had to wake up to go to church, and was groggy whole day.
Here are some pictures of us gorging ourselves silly with food.
(Below: Tiffany dipping at the chocolate fondue fountain)
(Below: Felicia enjoying her sushi...her favourite!)
(Below: Bert tucking into the delicious roast duck and mussels)
(Below: Just a little sample of the variety of spread, on my plate.)

(Below: Just 1 sample of the delicious western desserts! They kept on changing them!!)

Hey..hey...you may be wondering where have I been..
Dear all,
I am back at cyber space...well..well..well..I have been busy lately with mother-in-law not well, and also my dear sweetie has also not been well lately so I am sort of a little busy these days running here, running there......but then today things are sort of quiet at workplace and the sun is shining so brightly outside it is indeed a pity I am at work..but then no complaints lah...during these bad times. Well, just to update you what am I been up to lately..I have been at PsP playing Coded Arms, shooting monsters using an assortment of weapons equipped with laser guided technology...also have been driving and racing around various circuits on my PsP. What else? ah yes sleep alot too these days.... on the average on bed at 9.30pm till 7am.
Still have not finish reading the diary of St Faustina.. so no update yet for the moment..
Times bad...so the best place to be in is still your home so these days I spent more time at home than any where else in the world.
So I intend to focus my attention for this year to improve on our home environment like doing some home maintenance and sprucing up things around the house or even upgrading our TV set (recently manage to get one 42" plasma TV with HD ready at $949 with no transport cost).
Also I am looking at apts these days as our current one is a bit tight on space (for those who have been to our place I am sure you know what I mean, sorry folks each time LC gathering, I have to put you all up at the dimly lit smoky BBQ pit) and also esp when the 2 girls is growing up so fast...not that I aspire to have bigger house [I am fine with a small house] but it is out of necessity........so off I go to so many places... Double Bay, Waterfront Waves, Simei Green, have seen so many units at Melville Park...next stop perhaps Casa Merah, Ferraria Park both TOP soon etc etc....oh it is such a daunting task looking at houses...have to think so much ...lease hold vs freehold etc. etc. location, budget
but then you know wat our conclusion is Melville Park is still the best and here is why:
1. Near bustop
2. Reputed to be the condominium in Singapore to be the easiest to get a taxi without having to book one. Taxis will lined up at the side gate waiting for you during the morning rush hour.
3. Faraway from the MRT track...wonder why houses situated along the track can fetch such a high price. (I can't sleep with noises around me)
4. Spacious compound
5. Cafeteria, laundry, hair salon, grocery shop are all housed within the condo...and entitle to 2 carpark lots at basement some more
So needless to say...MP is still our focus.
But then...Sigh! I still have not come to any decision and the search goes on....these days I am reading the Classified Ads more frequent then ever and have notice that the Class Ads have improve a lot since the last time I look at them seriously 9 years ago.
This is a summary of what I have been doing lately...
30 mins more to blast off from AMK...
You have a blessed weekend! Take care and God Bless!

Hectic March Holiday!
Dear All
You must be wondering what happened to us...no updates to the LC blog, yah? The week before and during the March hols were really busy for us. My mum was admitted to hospital for 17 days!! Fortunately no surgery was needed. She went through a scope both from her throat and the bottom as she bled when she went to the toilet whilst in the hospital. The doctors can't find anything serious, but she has to follow up with the specialists doctors for her stomach. She actually had a very bad blackout a month plus back (I think I had shared that in my earlier blog) and since she keeps getting more frequent dizzy spells, she decided to have herself checked into the hospital.
They find out that she was having irregular heartbeats. Sometimes very very slow, sometimes superfast...that was what was causing the dizzy spells. As to what is causing that, they think it's due to the thickness of the blood, so they have given her an additional medicine to the already volumious amount of medicines she is already taking, to get her blood to the right thickness. For all the advances in medicine, the amount to be given is still a guesstimate....hence the long stay to take blood tests to check if the amount is right, and monitoring the heartbeat. The downside to this medicine is that this increases her chances of getting internal bleeding, hence she cannot fall or injure herself...hence also the reason for her long stay to give her body some chance to adjust to the new medicine and for the doctors to gauge the right amount of dosage. Very very scary decision to make.
Thank the Lord she was finally discharged today (Sun, 22 Mar 09). She still has at least 4 more followups with the hospital. What is worrying is that I also have my very old going to be 93 years old dad at home. Luckily, my very wise mum decided 1 and a half years ago, to get a maid (finally) to help her with the household chores so that she can take care of my dad. I think the strain of looking after him has taken a toil on her, as my dad totally depended on her for everything. I felt so sad that my once quite strong mum had to totally lean on me and walk so very slowly from the hospital to the car and back home. She cried with my dad when she talked to him, I just pretended nothing happened to give my old parents some private moment. They had never been a part from each other that long.
I sometimes wonder, is advancement in medicines a boon or a bane? Sometimes life is prolonged but it can be bittersweet. On one hand we want our loved ones to be with us as long as possible, yet when you see them suffer, you sometimes wish them a better life.
It's also tough being the sandwiched generation, yet we are so blessed to see true love between our parents. My parents are so lucky they don't need ME because they are already living ME in their daily lives. Albert has been such a fantastic son-in-law and husband during these trying and tiring days. He's such a treasure and it's so good to see my mum appreciating him and him being so happy. I know he does everything for my mum because of his great love for me and because my mum is a very nice and kind woman whom I hope to emulate.
It's kinda scary that we all have to go through this phase in life one day. As long as we are living, we have to go through suffering and grieving one day. That's the great mystery of life which even the saints cannot explain...that's why it's called a mystery.
Sorry for being so emotional. It's been a very emotional week plus the 2 girls still had to go back to school during the hols!! Can you believe it?? Don't know what's becoming of our lives...forever on the threadmill, running ever faster but getting no where and just to be on the same spot. No government knows what to do, except to make everyone (students as young as Feli - 8 years old!) more stressed out in the name of world competition. Sometimes, I think Tiffy's question of why must we be in the rat-race doesn't sound half so bad. She's enough stress as it is, so I try not to give her additional stress.
Enough mobid thoughts for tonight from me...thanks for reading.

What to do for the March hol? Try MOST
Dear All
If you are wondering what to do with the kids during the March hols, 1 place worth a visit is
MOST (Musuem of Shanghai Toys). It's a tiny shop cum musuem with 2 floors of very old toys, some of which LC couples were sure to have played with before when we were our kiddos age now. I got so excited pointing to this toy and that toy to the girls, they also became excited.
Which kid doesn't get excited in 2 gigantic roomsfull of toys? Here's some pixs I took when we visited MOST during the Dec 08 hols. Happy viewing....
(Below: remember the days of the dialing telephones?)
(Below: the famous Green Spot drink. I remember I can still find this drink in an old coffeeshop in Katong..& the frog is actually a piggy bank from a chinese bank named something Kwa bank. Mine was a squirrel, Edmund's was a frog and William's was a camel. I still have the squirrel bank!)
(Below: I took this shot as the doll-faced rattler was exactly like the one my 5th aunt gave me when she was still a young spinster then and a non-catholic yet. She visited my mum very often then and gave me a toy at almost every visit!!)
(Below: The sticker on the right with Merlin was exactly like the one I had in my sticker collection then in primary 2 or 3. We used to trade or sell our stickers in our classroom during marking days. I made some $$ but pretty soon was broke cos I bought some "new" stickers for my sticker collection)
(Below: Days when tricycles are leg-powered..we hardly had fat kids then...)
(Below: The steep flight of steps from the 1st floor of toys to the next...)
(Below: Do you remember the plastic-thin lanterns we used to carry with lit candles during moon cake festival? Mine was a butterfly and it got burned when I ran with fright when a dog suddenly barked at me...I was so sad it was charred quite badly)
(Below : San-Mao who is popular with our kids now was actually a old cartoon character)

Updated post on Valentine's Day with photos
Dear All
Finally figured out how to upload the photos for post on valentine's day. (Please see valentine's day post for lots of photos including the infamous blooming pussy willow...)
With the tight-ness in budget, a friend told me since the only fish I am familar cooking with is salmon, instead of buying them ready-packed, why not buy them whole. So I did. I think I saved quite a bit since I bought it at 69 cents per 100g, I got this fellow for just under $32..weighing about 3+kg. Lock-stock-and barrel minus the gills, can all be eaten. The bones made great fish soup, and the head made delicious fish head curry....yum yum.
Here's the pix of the fish (the one below) that I bought.
