Harry Potter Exhibition @ Marina Bay Sands

Dear All

During the Jun hols, we visited the Harry Potter Exhibition. There was a promo then at for OCBC credit card @ 15%, hence tix for adults after discount was $20 and for kids below 12 @ $13. As the girls are Harry Potter fans, we got the tickets on 15 Jun, as a last minute treat for the girls, as they were busy with school holiday lessons during the first 2 weeks of the hols, and were brain-drained.

Although Bert & I are not Harry Potter fans, the exhibition has enough posters and write-ups around to explain the exhibits. Fortunately we have caught some of the HP movies either on the cinema or TV or videos to appreciate the exhibition.

In my opinion, the exhibition is a little small (but the girls disagree), but the props are top-notch. The exhibits are the real-deal....actual props used for the movies for quite a bit of the exhibits. E.g. the clothes the actors used and the sports equipment used in the HP tournament.

Warning before entering the exhibition..no photography allowed (below):

Recommended buy (below):

Photography is strictly not allowed within the main exhibition, so we decided to buy the HP Exhibition Official Guide Book. I can't remember the price, but I think it was either $20 or $30 and I highly recommend getting this book, as it contains photos and write-ups of the exhibits.

Some extracts from the Official Guide (below):

There's also photo-taking just before you enter. It's a bit ex but we decided to buy all 3 photos (with 3 different backgrounds) @ $50. Just 1 photo was $20. The girls said the backgrounds were all very nice and from the HP movie scenes...for me, I couldn't really get that excited over it as I'm not a HP fan.

A little over-kill...set of 3 photos with different backgrounds (below):

At the waiting room, 2 volunteers were invited to take the Hogwarts placement test. Tiffany volunteered first and was placed in Ravenclaw. Too bad photography was not allowed nor was there an official photographer, otherwise, it would have made a perfect momento as she's an ardent fan. I could see the excitement on her face :)

There's also a hands-on exhibit where you can have a go at pulling up a Mandrake.

We are not allowed to touch any of the exhibits except for Hagrid's gigantic arm chair, where you are invited to sit on for the feel of the size of this man!

One of the cheapest souvenir items..chocolate frog @$8 per piece! (below):

The lilies were blooming this time! Couldn't resist taking photos of them! So pretty (below):

We later brought the girls to this old-fashioned yesteryear hawker centre at the Singapore Flyer. We were all excited over the olden-days bottles of fizzy drinks, and I was happy to see the old rooster picture on the bowl....memories of my old school days!

As we've gone before, the 2 girls went up the Flyer on their own (below):

The exhibition is still on, I believe, till end of Sep, so you can still catch it during the Sep hols or earlier, during any of the weekends.

Love
Theresa
