My portable hard disc..

Just to share some tips on travelling light....in Singapore. Since I am a frequent traveller on the bus and MRT, the weight of my bag is of utmost importance....i.e. the lightest possible at the same time able to see to my daily needs...so in my bag there is a PDA, handphone, HP calculator, MP3 player, an e-dictionary
and of course my portable harddisk, which I bought in NYP at the cost $75 (120Gb) on offer.

Let me tell how useful is this little device. I used to carry this piece of heavy metal weighing about 2 kg on my back plus all other files and gadgets, my bag easily comes to about 3 to 3.5 kg.

Often I have to walk 2 bustops back home every day from the train station and that puts a strain on my back.....but now it has been better.

I have stopped bringing my laptop ever since I have configured my portable hard disc. First I copied the entire data files onto this protable hard disc (a total 25 Gb worth of data), sync daily it to my laptop using Synctoy software (downloadable from the MS web) and encrypt the data using TrueCrypt software (also a freeware) with password protection. Now even if I happen to lost this portable hard disc, I have no fear for the data is encrypted and password protected. All the entire working data of 25 Gb is on this piece of wonderful device weighing merely about 150 grammes.
Just back from stand-in invigilation duty....time to pack up and go home! Have a blessed weekend!
